Dear West View Methodist Church
As we enter this weekend of celebrating Jesus our Saviour’s birth, allow the words of this poem by Ann Weems to inspire you:
When the Holy Child is born into our hearts
There is a rain of stars
A rushing of angels
A blaze of candles
This God burst into our lives
Love is running through the streets

CHANGING OF THE GUARD AMONGST SOCIETY STEWARDS
We say a huge thank you to Graham Taylor and Nthabiseng Mokone who have completed their terms as Society Stewards. Thank you for your leadership and commitment! Welcome to Andre Van Rensburg, Greta Mouton, and Kevin Riddin who are the New Society Stewards for West View College, Ditshego and Spiritual Formation respectively.
FINANCIAL UPDATE AS AT 30TH NOVEMBER
Tithes and offerings for November were R485 000. This was R15 000 short of budget, which brings our year-to-date shortfall to R232 000. We’re trusting that December giving, which is traditionally higher than other months, will reduce this shortfall, and thus enable us to enter January in a cash positive position.
The Annual Society Meeting on 27th November approved our budget for 2017. We have budgeted for giving through tithes and offerings of R507 000 per month in 2017. This represents an increase of just 1.4% on the 2016 budget. However, it represents a 6% increase on actual (annualised) giving during 2016. As you consider the level at which God is calling you to give during 2017, please bear this increase in mind. We rely on the sacrificial, generous, joyful giving of each of you to ensure that West View is resourced for the work to which we are called.
THIS IS HOW WE ROLL JANUARY PREACHING AND STUDY SERIES
In urban slang, the phrase ‘this is how we roll’, is a way of saying “this is us; this is how we act”. It boldly declares “If you want to know who we are, look at how we roll, look at how we live”. Jesus said in Matthew 7:20 that His followers would be known, not by what they believe, but by their fruit… by their actions… by their conduct. In the weeks starting 15th January, we’re going to be exploring, through sermons and group study, our core conducts here at West View. We’re looking at the things we do that make us who we are. We’re looking at HOW WE ROLL. If you are looking for a spiritual home, and want to know whether West View is the tribe God wants you to join, then stick around through this series, and use it as a chance to figure out God’s will for you. If you are already a part of the community of West View, then this series will help you to clarify what it means to be part of the tribe that is West View Methodist Church, as we move forward into God’s future for us.
FLOWER MINISTRY IN 2017
Finally, may I take this opportunity, on behalf of Holly, Alex, Adam, Emma and me, to wish you and your loved ones a Christ-filled Christmas and 2017. I continue to celebrate the privilege of being your pastor.
Yours in Christ
