Dear people of the resurrection
Welcome to worship on Easter Sunday. A special welcome to any guests. Be at home among us.
C.S. Lewis, author of the Chronicles of Narnia, wrote: “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else”.
The same could be said of the crucifixion and the resurrection. The light that shines from the empty tomb is the light by which we see every other event in our lives. Death does not have the last word; sin and evil do not have the last word; hatred does not have the last word. God’s self-sacrificial love, embodied in Jesus, has the final say, and proves to be the most powerful force in the universe. It is a force which was unleashed at the resurrection, and which continues to be known wherever people follow in the footsteps of Jesus. May you see all of your life through the light of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
In faith, hope and love
